North of downtown Chicago (16 miles) is Skokie, the village in Cook County, Illinois, United States on 10 square miles of land with over 64,000 residents & 2,400 locally based businesses. 
The Skokie name is Potawatomi word for word "Marsh".  Skokie is surrounded by the Villages of Glenview and Wilmette on the North side, the Village of Lincolnwood and the City of Chicago (West Rogers Park and Edgebrook neighborhoods) on the South side, the Villages of Morton Grove and Niles on the West side and the City of Evanston on the East side.
